Join the Secret Agent Society

Calling All Secret Agents!

Aurora Regional Services is putting out a call for new cadets to join the Secret Agent Society (SAS).

SAS is an innovate multi-media program designed to empower children to crack the code of emotions and friendship to reach their full potential.

Through espionage themed computer games and small group workshops, participants between the ages of 8 – 12 years, undertake secret agent training – learning to how to detect and manage their emotions and develop the skills to maintain friendships.

“It’s a really fun interactive and engaging way for children with autism, ADHD, anxiety or general challenges in maintaining friendships to learn new skills. I don’t think I know a child who doesn’t like computer games, and the stuff we do in session is pretty cool” said Christine Coates, Clinical Director at Aurora Regional Services.

Using board games, walkie talkies, computer games and workbooks – we learn how to detect clues and solve puzzles. We learn how to recognise emotions in others through face, voice and body clues. We have fun whilst developing the confidence to make and keep friends through teamwork and problem solving. Learning how to manage and prevent things such as bullying, and teasing are also covered.

“This program has a solid evidence base, in improving children’s social and emotional skills” said Christine “and it is not just for children, there are also workshops for parents, and resources for teachers so that everyone is on the same page”

Aurora Regional is a Disability Service, providing Positive Behaviour Support, Counselling and Small Group Workshops to NDIS participants who live in the NSW regions of the Central West, Far West, Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers as well as Queenslands Gold Coast.

Social Skills Workshops

Social skills are a crucial part of life, and often we don’t pay enough attention to how they are learnt. Our group workshops offer a friendly, supportive environment where participants can learn skills that will help them to navigate the social world.

Social skills are the skills we use to communicate and interact with each other, both verbally and non-verbally, through gestures, body language and our appearance. Our group workshops focus on:

  • Attention and concentration
  • Conversation skills
  • Initiating and joining in
  • Developing and maintaining relationships/friendships

Our small group workshops are great for people of all ages and can be organised according to your requirements. We take enquiries from individuals, families, schools, disability service providers and organisations. The workshops are mobile, so we can come to you, or we can arrange a workshop at our office.
